Albert W. Chow, M.D., is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. A native of San Francisco, Dr. Chow graduated from Lowell High School and completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated in the top 20% of his medical school class at the University of California at San Francisco. Following this, he completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco. Remaining at the University, Dr. Chow completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, focusing on his interest in facial plastic surgery. He was chosen for a fellowship position (American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) at the University of Cincinnati, perfecting his skills by performing hundreds of operations under the guidance of a renowned facial cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Chow proceeded to complete his residency training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious University of Louisville Medical Center, where he worked directly with one of the most respected plastic surgeons in the field and the team of surgeons who performed the first hand transplant in the United States.
In addition to being an esteemed cosmetic surgeon in San Francisco, Dr. Chow is active in teaching and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at UCSF, where he teaches his residents the latest techniques in plastic surgery. He also routinely donates his time and surgical services to charity, traveling around the world to correct cleft lips and palates on children in developing countries. Most recently, he offered his services to children in China.
