A growing section of surgery that's being done at the hospitals today is gastric bypass surgery, weight reduction surgery. In general, it's not just for aesthetics, it is basically for the health and really saves them from having a lot of problems later in their lives and one of the side benefits or one of the complications of that is having excess skin when they lose all their weight. They look great in their clothes, but unfortunately, there is a lot of overhanging skin and that's where the plastic surgeon comes in order to help with that. We do various forms of skin excision and tightening of the underlying structures in order to improve the contour. Sometimes what we do is we basically remove the excess skin as a ring. We call that the Belt Lipectomy. We remove skin and fat around the entire body. If they have isolated areas such as the arm or the brows or the thighs, we can do localized excisions, whether it will be a medial thigh lift or a thigh lift, a buttock lift, or a brachioplasty, which is an arm lift. Those all can be done as well in order to help to restore them back to where they were before they gained the weight.
