There are plenty of ways that you can look your best, and one such way is getting facial plastic surgery. You see, sometimes the only answer for sagging skin and other sorts of aesthetic problems is a surgical answer. If you do have signs of advanced aging and other matters that you’d like to have addressed, San Francisco plastic surgeon Dr. Albert Chow will be able to assist you with your needs.
One thing to take into account is that some problems that seem purely aesthetic may actually be a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Case in point: upper eyelids that sag. Sure, they leave you looking more haggard and older than you may really be, but they can also impair your vision. This can prove dangerous when you’re out and about, and especially so when you’re driving. In some cases, a third or more of your normal vision may be obstructed.
When you come to our San Francisco cosmetic surgery center with such a matter, we’ll be sure to assess your candidacy for cosmetic eyelid surgery.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) refers to a surgical procedure which targets the upper eyelid. This surgery will involve the removal of excess eyelid skin in rejuvenate to restore a patient’s appearance and, in the case of impaired vision, remove the obstruction from their field of vision.
During cosmetic eyelid surgery, an incision will be made in the natural crease of the upper eyelid. Using this incision, excess tissue will be removed and the remaining skin of the eyelid tightened slightly. Since the incision will be in the natural eyelid fold, the surgical scar will be concealed from view. Patients who do not have a natural fold of the upper eyelid may have one created during surgery, a treatment which can help improve the visual field.
When you undergo San Francisco eyelid surgery because you vision is impaired by the upper eyelid, then your insurance will likely cover your eyelid surgery. The amount that your insurance will cover will vary on your situation and other factors. One of the primary factors determining insurance coverage will be the degree of visual blockage. During a consultation, we’ll be able to discuss these issues in greater detail.
There is a lot more to facial cosmetic surgery and aesthetic enhancement than just cosmetic eyelid surgery. A facelift, the use of facial implants, rhinoplasty, and other targeted procedures can leave you looking more refreshed and renewed. We’d be more than happy to go over the many different ways that your appearance can be enhanced when you visit our practice for an appointment.
